Learn With and From Others

Open group training supervision for established supervisees working toward Ohio LISW licensure. Sessions include case discussion, clinical reasoning, professional development, and collaborative learning.

Group participants may vary by session.

Who Is This For?

Sylvester provides LISW-S training supervision for Ohio Licensed Social Workers (LSWs) completing supervised experience toward independent social work licensure (LISW).

Training supervision is intended to support your professional development while you gain experience providing social work services and prepare for increasingly independent practice.

Ohio Training Supervision Requirements

For LSWs working toward LISW licensure, Ohio requires:

  • 1 hour of training supervision for every 20 hours of work

  • A minimum of 150 total hours of training supervision

  • Training supervision may include a combination of individual and group supervision

  • Individual supervision may include no more than two supervisees with one supervisor

  • Group supervision may include no more than eight supervisees with one supervisor

What You'll Need

Before beginning supervision, we'll ask for information about your:

  • Current Ohio social work license

  • Current employment/practice setting

  • Role and responsibilities

  • Existing work/clinical supervision, when applicable

  • Licensure goals

  • Previous training supervision and accrued hours, if applicable

  • Areas of practice and professional development goals

Your Supervision Hours

Supervisees are responsible for maintaining their training supervision records, including the dates, content, and goals of supervision. Sylvester will review and sign supervision records at least quarterly.

When applicable supervision requirements have been completed, accrued supervision hours are submitted to the Ohio Board according to its required process.

You are responsible for tracking your supervision hours and ensuring that your employment, experience, and supervision arrangements meet current Ohio licensure requirements.

Training supervision is not necessarily the same as your work/clinical supervision.

Sylvester provides LISW-S training supervision focused on professional development and progression toward independent social work practice. Depending on your role and practice setting, you may also require separate work/clinical supervision related to your day-to-day practice and client care.
